THE SINGAPORE GRAND PRIX
The Singapore Grand Prix is part of Formula One. It’s a race that takes place in Marina Bay in Singapore and is the F1’s first night race. Under the artificial lights, it begins at 8 pm Singapore local time, the standard time for when the European Grand Prix takes place. The tropical climate and extreme daytime temperature of Singapore are avoided when set in the night.
The race happens in the middle of September, sponsored by Singapore Airlines. As it falls toward the end of the season, tensions run high because of the imminent championship climax soon to follow. It’s always an edge-of-your-seat event.
